Corrupt senior Hawks officer arrested in Limpopo

The 54-years-old senior Hawks officer has been arrested on Wednesday morning for corruption and will appear in Bela-Bela Magistrates Court today in Limpopo province.

According to Colonel Katlego Mogale,Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation(DPCI),commonly known as the Hawks,has today,15 January 2025,arrested one of its senior officers,aged 54,on allegations of corruption.The officer,who is stationed at the Hawks' Head Office,is accused of attempting to influence a police investigating officer involved in a case against a councilor in one of the regions in Limpopo.

Mogale revealed that the incident took place three years ago and the accused promised the complainant tenders and favours,even promotions.

He said the incident occurred on 14 January 2022,when the accused approached the complainant,a fellow police officer,and requested assistance in helping a councillor who was facing a criminal investigation.The complainant,who was the investigating officer on the case,was promised tenders and future favours in exchange for his assistance.The senior officer further allegedly offered to use his connections at the police's Head Office to secure a promotion for the complainant if he supported him.

He stated that following an investigation,the senior officer has been charged with corruption and is set to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrates Court today.

He emphasised that the Hawks remain committed to upholding the law and maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability.No one,regardless of their position or rank within the Directorate,will be allowed to undermine our core values or the trust the public places in us.

He revealed that an apprehension of that corrupt senior officer was welcomed even by Lieutenant General Adv Godfrey Lebeya,the National Head of the Hawks.

Hawks arrested suspect kidnapping in Eastern Cape

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation(HAWKS) has announced that on Tuesday that arrested a 36-year-old suspect for kidnapping in Dambaza.

The Eastern Cape Provincial Spokesperson for Hawks,Lieutenant Colonel Avele Fumba said the East London based Serious Orgainsed Crime Investigation of the Hawks,in collaboration with SAPS East London and the Mdantsane Flying Squad,has arrested a suspect in connection with a kidnapping case reported on 9 January 2025 in Dimbaza.

He mentioned that preliminary reports reveal that four(4) armed suspects allegedly breached a factory's perimeter fence and encountered three boys,aged 15 to 17.One of the boys was reportedly held at gunpoint and forced to surrender the keys to a Mahindra vehicle,which the suspects used to flee the scene after abducting the other two boys.The vehicle was later found abandoned in a forested area near Nakani.

He pointed out that the law enforcement investigation has resulted to the arrest of the suspect and the hunt for other suspects is still on.

"A swift disruptive operation led by Hawks resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect in Dimbaza.Efforts to locate the remaining suspects are ongoing.The Hawks appeal to community members to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation and their identify will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,"he said.

He added that the arrested individual will appear in the Dimbaza Magistrates Court on 16 January 2025.
