Maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose has lost his beloved grandmother Cagwe Mpungose and has decided to cancel shows up until she buried just to mourn for her.
Yesterday,the Maskandi star announced through his not-profit organisation called Indlamlenze Development Foundation that his only surviving grandparent had lost her life on Monday at her homestead in Nkandla,KwaZulu-Natal after a long-illness.
Khuzani has described his late grandmother as the main person who shaped him to become who he is right now after he lost his both parents when has was teenager.
"Gogo Cagwe who was Maskandi superstar Khuzani Mpungose's only living grandparent was the backbone and core of who he is.
After her ailing health,Gogo took her last breath on 23 December 2024 in front of Khuzani while at home eNkandla,KZN.She was his only surviving relative as after the passing of both his parents,Gogo Cagwe became both Khuzani's parent and grandparent,"said Indlamlenze Development Foundation.
His foundation has confirmed that he will continue with his music gigs which were scheduled for the festive after the funeral of Gogo Cagwe.
The foundation said as Khuzani mourns his grandmother unfortunately some of his shows where he is expected to perform this week until Gog' Cagwe is laid to rest will be affected as he will unable to make it due his to mourning period.
Khuzani has expressed his unconditional love for his grandmother in many ways and through that she became famous,he named his cars through her and built her a beautiful home in the rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal.
Gogo Cagwe has witnessed the success of her grandson over the years as he won numerous music awards and even when he ventured to other businesses such as transportation as he bought new truck few weeks ago.
On Christmas Day night,Khuzani announced that his grandmother will be buried tomorrow in her home at Mandaba area,Nkandla.
The death of Gogo Cagwe came in a wrong time whereby his grandson was busy celebrating the success of his latest studio album Angidlali Nezingane which is doing wonders out there after being released last month.
His latest album has been acknowledged by Apple Music as one of the best albums released in South Africa so far and is also doing well on platforms such as YouTube,Spotify and many others.
One of the songs of his new album has been nominated for Umhlobo Wenene FM song of the year competition and is leading there on position one with more than 44,000 votes.
