Malawian Vice-President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima perished in a plane crash

The President of Malawi,Dr Lazarus Chakwera has confirmed a mysterious death of Vice-President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima,the plane wreckage found at Chikangawa Forest,Mzimba District,Malawi.
On yesterday night,the Government of Malawi has informed the public that the military helicopter that was carrying Vice President was missing since morning on Monday.
Chilima was involved in that terrible accident while was on his way to Mzuzu International Airport from Lilongwe and he was with other nine people onboard.
During his address to the nation,President Chakwera confirmed that the wreckage of the plane was found,unfortunately everyone onboard did not survived.
At the moment,it is not easy to say what may contributed to that accident except speculations that might be a bad weather and the plane wreckage was found in Chikangawa Forest Reserve in Mzimba District.
One of the notable people who perished in that plane crash was the former First-Lady of Malawi,Shanil Dzimbiri,the ex-wife of former President Bakili Muluzi.
Chilima has served the people of Malawi under the administration of former President Peter Mutharika where he occupied positions such as Minister of Public Events and Disaster Management and Minister of the Civil Service while he was a member of Democratic Progressive Party(DPP).
Before his untimely death,he was serving as a Vice-President of Malawi and as well as Minister of Economic Planning and Development starting from 2020 up until his death on 10 June 2024.
Chilima was the founder of a political party United Transformation Movement(UTM) which established in 2018 and his party played a huge role on toppling Peter Mutharika's DPP during 2020 elections through their alliance with Lazarus Chakwera's Malawi Congress Party.
Before joining the politics,Chilima has spent half of his life in the corporate world where he worked for the companies such as Lever Brothers(now Unilever),Leasing and Finance Company of Malawi,Southern Brothers Limited(now Castel Malawi) and his last job was at Airtel Malawi.
He was born in 1973 in Blantyre,and he was one of the most decorated economist and politician in Malawi as he possessed highest qualifications such as PhD in Knowledge Management from University of Bolton in the United Kingdom which he obtained in 2015.
