The North West police has launched a manhunt for suspect which is wanted for double murder of his girlfriend and her mother in Rustenburg.

The SAPS statement said that the police in Tlhabane launched a search following the murder of a 37-year-old woman and her mother,aged 73.The incident occured in the early hours of Sunday morning,14 January 2024,at Matlhatsimarwana Section,Lefaragatlhe village outside Rustenburg.

According to North West South African Police Service(SAPS),it is alleged that the 37-year-old woman woke up to open the door for her boyfriend.Reports suggest that without provocation,the boyfriend attacked and stabbed his girlfriend several times with a knife.He then proceeded to the room where he stabbed the old woman several times as well before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police has reported that both victims died after being stabbed so severely by the ruthless suspect and the police are still hunting the murderer which is nowhere to be found.

Police said the old woman was certified dead at the scene while her daughter who leaves behind a five-month-old baby,succumbed to her injuries at Job Shimankane Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg.The police traced the suspect,including at his rented place,but was not found.The motive of the incident is yet to be determined and investigations are underway.

The police are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect to contact an investigating team.The statement said the police request anyone who may have information that can assist in the investigation including the arrest of the suspect,to contact the investigating Officer,Detective Warrant Officer Khomotjo Matlala on 076 257 9026 or call the South African Police Service(SAPS) Crime Stop number 08600 10111.Anonymous tip-offs can be also shared via MySAPS App.

The senseless killing which orchestrated by the suspect has been condemned even by the top hierarchy of the SAPS in the North West Province.

The statement concluded that the Provincial Commissioner of North West,Lieutenant General Sello Kwena condemned in the strongest possible terms,the brutal killing of the pair by someone who was supposed them.He instructed the investigation team to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the alleged perpetrator is brought to book.

Police in Gauteng arrested more than 700 criminals

The Office of the Provincial Commissioner in Gauteng has released a media statement on Monday where it confirmed that over the past weekend the South African Police Service(SAPS) has done a sterling work arresting hundreds of criminals across the province.

"Police in Gauteng continue to squeeze the space for criminals to ensure that people in the province are feel safe.This past weekend,from Friday 12 January to Sunday 14 January 14 2024,over seven hundred people were arrested as police were hard at work tracing wanted suspects,conducting roadblocks,raiding liquor outlets and performing stop and searches,among other crime prevention activities,"Gauteng police said.

In one of the police operations in the province of Gauteng which was joined by the Provincial Commissioner the police managed to arrest more than 100 law-breakers around Ekurhuleni.

"One hundred and twenty-six(126) of these suspects were arrested in Ekurhuleni District,where the provincial commissioner of the police in Gauteng,Lieutenant General Elias Mawela,led the integrated Operation Shanela.This operation included the roadblocks in Ivory Park on Saturday evening,13 January 2024,where 28 suspects were arrested for being undocumented foreign nationals,twenty-one for driving under the influence of alcohol,one for dealing in illicit cigarettes,one vehicle impounded after it was found that the Vehicle Identification Number was tampered with and five unlicensed liquor outlets were shut down,"police statement continues.

Police confirmed that more than five hundreds criminals were arrested in four provincial districts for different crimes.

"Furthermore,one hundred and ninety-five(195) people were arrested in Johannesburg District,two hundred and twenty-six(226) in Tshwane District,one hundred and three(103) in West Rand District and sixty-nine(69) in Sedibeng District for various crimes,"police adds.

According to SAPS in Gauteng,other suspects were arrested during the tracing of wanted suspects who committed offences that include rape,murder,assault,housebreaking and theft,armed robbery,fraud,sexual assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police elaborated that some of the suspects were released after paying admission of guilty fine while others are expected to appear before various Magistrate Courts in Gauteng from Monday,15 January 2024.
