Orlando Pirates has topped Group C despite dropping two crucial points when drew 1-1 with Stade d'Abidjan during CAF Champions League in Abidjan,Cote d'Ivoire on Saturday afternoon.
After yesterday draw, the Buccaneers succeeded to move to position one in their Group leading with five points in three games and that lead might be short because Al Ahly was not playing this weekend.
Pirates has played three games so far in their continental campaign and had only managed to record one win and two draws.
Pirates players wasted plenty of chances in the first half which were supposed to be converted before the end of that half, and in the first-half the visiting team was dominating the ball possession.
Players such as Makhehleni Makhaula and Relebohile Mofokeng wasted two golden opportunities in the first opening 15 minutes which were meant to seal the win in the early phases of that match.
Stade d'Abidjan goalkeeper Drissa Bamba only did a superb save on the 30th minutes from the ball shot by Mohau Nkota after receiving a beautiful pass from Evidence Makgopa.
The visitors lonely goal was scored before the end of the first 45 minutes with the foot of Evidence Makgopa who was afforded an opportunity to take the penalty after Mofokeng was brought down inside the box.
During the second-half,the home team upped its pace seeking an equaliser and it took them only nine minutes to level score to 1-1 when defender Ousmane Meite scored in a close range.
On the 58th minute,Pirates missed the opportunity to restore the lead when Makgopa was coming from the left flank, that chance was nullified when Bamba came out to intercept that dangerous buildup in an one-on-one situation with the striker.
Buccaneers failed to capitalise when were given a last chance to extend their lead in the last minutes of the game when were awarded a free-kick which was taken by midfielder Kabelo Dlamini who came as a substitute.
