"It is a great honour to serve the country in this way.We face challenges in Britain but also big opportunities and it will be a privilege to work with the government to land those opportunities, both for our economy and our nation's security, and to advance our historic alliance with the United States,"said Peter Mandelson.

Why Peter Mandelson known as Britain's prince of darkness?

Mandelson has been clouded by scandals for almost his entire life as politician and he never showed any remorse for things he did as the public servant.

In 1998,he resigned after he failed to declare an interest free loan provided by a colleague which was investigated by his department. He was accused of lying to the House of Commons over that matter.

In 2001,he resigned again after attempting to use his position to influence a passport application of one of the Hinduja brothers,a dodgy Indian businessman which was linked to the Bofors arms sales scandal.

In 2008,upon his return to UK politics after working for the European Union, there was huge debate which involved his EU pension which was conflicting with his duties as UK Minister and refused to surrender his pension or resign as Minister.
