South Africa defeats Zimbabwe to advance to the 2025 AFCON knockout stage

Bafana Bafana has advanced to the knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Zimbabwe 3-2 at Grand Stade De Marrakech in Morocco on Monday night.

South Africa finished their group stages matches on second position of the Group B with 6 points behind Egypt which topped the group with 7 points, both teams proceeded to the next stage of the competition.

Meanwhile, Angola and Zimbabwe were eliminated from the competition as they finished on third and fourth position, Zimbabwe in three matches only managed to collect 1 point and Angola only got 2 points.

Bafana Bafana's first goal was scored by Tshepang Moremi in the 7th minute of the first-half, the second goal was scored by Lyle Foster in the 50th minute, and the third goal was scored by Oswin Appolis on the 82nd minute through penalty.

Zimbabwe's goals were scored by Maswanhise on the 19th minute which was an equaliser and the second goal  came from an own-goal which was scored by South Africa's defender Aubrey Modiba on the 73rd minute.

South Africa's starlet Oswin Appolis was chosen as the Man of the Match following his world-class performance against stubborn Zimbabwe, above all he is the scorer of the winning goal for his beloved country.
