Law enforcement officials have achieved a significant breakthrough in an ongoing investigation involving a property scam in Bloemfontein. Members of the Parkweg Tactical Response Team have apprehended two additional suspects, aged 30 and 36, in connection with a fraudulent house sale. This development increases the total number of individuals arrested in the case to four.

Background of the fraud investigation

The investigation originated from a case registered at Bayswater SAPS, where a female victim was allegedly defrauded of R65 000 during a bogus property transaction. According to reports, the victim provided the funds at a flat in the Bloemfontein CBD that was being utilised as a front office for these illegal activities.

Operational success and arrests

On Tuesday, 02 June 2026, the Parkweg Tactical ResponseTeam was called upon to assist a Bayswater detective in locating the outstanding suspects. Although initial intelligence pointed toward Edenburg, the investigation eventually returned to Bloemfontein. By the following day, 03 June 2026, police successfully followed leads to premises in Phelindaba while searching for a suspect accused of impersonating a lawyer to facilitate the scam.

The 36-year-old suspect was subsequently taken into custody. Shortly after that arrest, the 30-year-old suspect arrived at the Bayswater Police Station and surrendered, stating that he was aware the Tactical Response Team was searching for him.

Legal proceedings and ongoing inquiries

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court to face fraud-related charges. Authorities continue to investigate whether these individuals are connected to other similar property fraud cases within the Bloemfontein area.
