The police has confirmed that arrested two male suspects linked to the shooting happened outside a nightclub in Ermelo in the early hours of Wednesday morning and claimed two lives.

The South African Police Service(SAPS) Spokesperson in Mpumalanga,Brigadier Donald Mdhluli said the police in Ermelo made a significant breakthrough and arrested two male suspects,aged 45 and 50 in a double murder case.This is in connection with an incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning,01 January 2025,in Ermelo whereby two males,both aged 21,were shot whilst seated inside a Toyota Avanza that was parked in front of a certain club in Ermelo.

He revealed that according to information,the suspects were driving in a Mercedes-Benz Class A,and they reportedly approached the victims then suddenly fired several shots towards them,resulting in the tragic loss of both individuals.The suspects then fled the scene after the incident.One victim passed away upon arrival at the hospital,while the other victim succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

He added that police found some cartridges at the scene and have since opened a case with two counts of murder for investigation.The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage.

He stated that police investigation has contributed to the arrest of these suspects and another third is still at large,and are expected to appear in court today.

"Following the swift action by the men and women in Blue where they connected the dots,the two male suspects were arrested though the third suspect is still at large.Police are adamant that it is just a matter of time before he is arrested.

"The two suspects are expected to appear at the Ermelo Magistrate's Court on Friday,03 January 2025 facing murder charges,"Brigadier Mdhluli concluded.

Young man arrested for killing his own father

Police in Free State has confirmed an arrest of a young man which has killed his own father while they were in tavern on the 1st of January 2025.

The SAPS Provincial Spokesperson in Free State,Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said Winburg police have arrested a 21-year-old man for murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed his 42-year-old father on the chest at a local tavern in Winburg.

According to Sergeant Kareli,it is alleged that on Wednesday,1 January 2025 at about 11:00,the father and son were at a local tavern,and an argument ensued between the two and it led to the alleged stabbing.The 42-year-old victim was taken to the local hospital with a stab wound on the chest,where he later succumbed to his injuries.Police were summoned by hospital personnel and a murder case docket was registered.

He added that preliminary investigations were conducted,and the 21-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested for murder.He will appear in the Winburg Magistrate's Court soon.

In a separate incident,two young men were arrested in Botshabelo following a shooting incident where they allegedly fired shots randomly at people in Section A.

Sergeant Kareli said on Wednesday,1 January 2025 at about 06:00,a case of attempted murder was reported at Botshabelo police after two African males pulled out a gun and started shooting at bystanders at Section A,Botshabelo.Nobody was injured.

He stated that police responded to the information and rushed to that area and managed to arrest the culprits and found the firearm and ammunition.

He revealed that at about 13:00,the task received information about two African males(suspects),both residing in Section A.Information was operationalised and an 18-year-old African male was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm at a house.Further investigation led to the arrest of a 19-year-old male who was found in possession of ammunition.

Both males were arrested and detained for attempted murder and will appear in court soon.
