A joint intelligence-driven operation has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old woman in connection with the murder of businessman Tebogo Mothapo in the Mankweng policing area, Limpopo.
The suspect was apprehended on Sunday, 30 August 2026, in Mankweng Zone One by a multidisciplinary team comprising the Provincial Investigation Unit, Provincial Tracking Unit and Capricorn Tracing Team, assisted by external law-enforcement partner Tshimollo Security and Investigations.
Background of the case
Police alleged that Mothapo,43, was attacked and shot dead in Mankweng on 16 December 2025. The latest arrest brings to two the number of suspects held in connection with the killing.
Previous arrest
The first suspect, 27-year-old Osama Azad, a naturalised South African of Pakistani origin, was arrested on 20 July 2026 at Ga-Mothapo Tjatjaneng.
Provincial leadership commendation
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers welcomed the arrest and commended the investigating teams for their persistence in resolving the brutal murder of the businessman.
Court appearance
The 19-year-old will appear in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Monday, 31 August 2026. She faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
