Al Ahly has been crowned as Egypt Super Cup champions for the third time in a row after defeating Modern Future by 4-2 at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium,Abu Dhabi on Thursday night.
The last night victory for the Red Devils in a foreign land has made them an undisputed superheros of the Egyptian football after winning the Super Cup for the 14th time in their history.
The Red Devils started the game in a full force and was able to score two goals in the first 35-minutes of the first-half.
The first goal for the defending champions was netted by Mahmoud Kahraba after receiving a ball from the corner which was kicked by Ali Maaloul and the second goal was scored by Hussein El Shahat.
The game went on half-time the Red Devils were leading by two goals to nil and in the second-half the defending champions continued to press forward trying to get another goal but players such as South African starlet Percy Tau missed golden opportunity from the ball that was given by Mohamed Hany.
The Red Devils players took off the eyes from the ball in the 76th minute when the Modern Future scored to make score 2-1.
After conceding that goal,the Al-Ahly was put under pressure by Modern Future up until they managed to find an equalizer around 85th minute to level the score 2-2.
The game ended in a draw in normal time which left these two sides with no choice but to proceed to an extra-time.
During the extra-time the Red Devils players were unstoppable and were very offensive and that rewarded them with a third goal of the night which was netted by Modeste on the 114th minute assisted by Maaloul.
And the fourth goal for the defending champions came on the 116th minutes with Karim Fouad and his goal guaranteed the Red Devils victory.
The Red Devils' journey to the Egypt Super Cup Final was not easier because in their previous match the Egyptian giants struggled against Ceramica Cleopatra for the whole 90 minutes to get a single to guarantee their place in the final.
Luckily,on the 90'+4 minutes the Ceramica Cleopatra's player J. Arthur was unlucky when he scored an own goal which costed his side its place on the final.
The Al-Ahly players came to the final in a high morale after doing very well in the Club World Cup and they received bronze.
During their participation at the Club World Cup tournament,the Red Devils won two matches and was lost one against Brazilian-side Fluminense.
In their opening match at the Club World Cup the Red Devils humiliated the Saudi-side Al Ittihad by 3-1 and in their third match of the tournament encountered the Japanese-side Urawa Reds Diamond which was beaten by 2-4.
