The Durban man lost R195 000 after his vehicle he bought from a scammer was taken away from him by armed men on Friday afternoon just after few hours of transferring the payment to the seller.

Prem Balram,Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) spokesperson revealed that a buyer was scammed out of R195 000 after he transferred monies into the account of an unknown seller this afternoon(Friday).When the funds cleared,the vehicle was forcefully removed from his possession by armed men.

According to Prem Balram,Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) received a telephonic call for assistance at 18:25.Officers were informed that the an Umhlanga - KZN resident had responded to an advertisement for a white 2023 model Ford Ranger Wildtrak(pictured).The vehicle was on sale for R550 000.The buyers were send videos and pictures but insisted on seeing the vehicle before transferring the monies.This morning(Friday) the buyer and an employee of the seller met at King Shaka International Airport in KZN and after viewing the bakkie,R195 000 was transferred electronically to an FNB Account from the buyers FNB Account.

Balram said according to the buyer,after the monies were transferred the seller refused to accept that the money was reflecting in his account and informed his employee not to release the vehicle.The buyer became suspicious and placed a friend on the passengers seat so that the Ford Wildtrak could not flee.

Balram added that after several hours of negotiating,the seller telephonically requested to meet at a service station in Verulam - KZN to resolve the matter.At that stage two(2) unknown men arrived at the service station in a 2018 model white double cab Ford Ranger.They were attired in khaki uniform and in possession of rifles.The men forcefully removed the passenger from the vehicle and drove off with the Ford Wildtrak.

Balram concluded that a criminal case is being registered.
