The South African Police Service(SAPS) in the Western Cape has announced the arrest of two Egyptians for kidnapping and killing their countryman in Grabouw in March 2023.

According to SAPS, the accused pair, aged 33 and 34,made their first court appearance in the Grabouw Magistrates' Court today(11 April 2023) following their arrest last week in Grabouw and Queens Town respectively.

The SAPS continued to say that the duo appeared in the Grabouw Magistrate's Court earlier today on charges of kidnapping and murder. The matter was remanded to 13 April 2023 whilst the suspect remain in custody. The case was transferred to the Mitchell's Plain magistrates court.

The police statement added that preliminary investigation by an integrated team of detectives led by Provincial Detectives, suggest that the victim,Saeed Mansour, was visited by former business partners(the accused) at his business in Grabouw on 31 March 2023 where duo confronted him, allegedly about a substantial amount of cash from the business profits they suspected him of taking without consent. They then forced him into their car and took off. He was later reported as missing and a kidnapping case was initially opened.

The police after conducting their own investigation managed to arrest the first accused on Tuesday,04 April 2023 and the investigators continued to look another suspect which was apprehended on Friday,07 April 2023 in his hideouts in Queenstown, police detained them at Grabouw holding cells.

Police concluded that during further investigations, one of the accused cooperated and pointed out where the body of the deceased was buried and later exhumed from man-made grave along Baden Powell Drive near Mitchell's Plain. As a result the scene was examined by forensic experts and members of the integrated Anti-Kidnapping Task Team.
