The police arrested four security officers who tried to kill the driver and damaged his vehicle after an argument on Tuesday at Nhlazatshe Crossing,Mpumalanga Province.
Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe said the police arrested four security officers employed by a private security company for attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and intimidation. The incident is said to have taken place on 04 November 2025 in Elukwatini area.
The police revealed that the security officers tried even to shoot the driver when he was running away from the suspects, and mentioned that the suspects were arrested and were found with weapons.
"The security officers allegedly stopped a vehicle driven by a male person at Nhlazatshe Crossing. The guards are said to have then demanded to search the vehicle, but the driver refused, leading to an argument. It was during this time when the four allegedly pelted the vehicle with stones as well as fired some shots at the driver, who managed to escape then reported the incident to the police.
The four suspects, identified as Phumlani Muzi Nene(31), Mongameli Xaba(29), Mhlengu Shange(32), and Siyabonga Zondo(29), were arrested on the same day of the incident (on 04 November 2025). During the arrest, the police seized four firearms, including two semi-automatic rifles, a shotgun, and a pistol, with about 104 live rounds," added Captain Nonyane-Mpe.
The suspects appeared at the Chief Albert Luthuli Magistrate's Court yesterday 05 November 2025. The suspects remained in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on 12 November 2025 for a formal bail application, concluded Captain Nonyane-Mpe.
