Israeli occupation forces have invaded the Occupied Palestinian Territory in the West Bank and murdered 17 people including children since Wednesday.
During its so-called military operation,Israelis intentionally demolished civilian infrastructure such as roads and power lines in Jenin camp and surrounding neighborhoods using bulldozers.
The UN Human Rights has described the killing of Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023 as one of the highest ever recorded there by their office in past two decades.
"A major operation by Israeli security forces(ISF) in the occupied West Bank risks seriously deepening the already catastrophic situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Israel's operation in Jenin,Tubas and Tulkarm today, and the killing of at least nine Palestinians, two of them reportedly children, take the overall death toll in the West Bank since 7 October to 637.This represents the highest number of fatalities over a period of eight months since the UN first started recording casualties in the West Bank two decades ago,"said UN Human Rights Spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani on Wednesday.
The Israelis' invasion into the West Bank has been disapproved by the United Nations Human Rights and it was reported that the occupation murdered even children for just throwing stones.
Shamdasani said many children have been killed while throwing stones at highly protected ISF,as have other Palestinians posing no imminent threat to life or serious injury.Such unnecessary or disproportionate use of force and the increase in apparent targeted and other summary killings are alarming.
Shamdasani added that thousands of Palestinians have been arbitrarily arrested and tortured, subjected to unrelenting settler violence, severe restrictions on movement and expression, their homes and property destroyed or seized, and forcibly displaced.
The UN Human Rights has emphasised that Israel as an occupation power in the West Bank has the responsibility to ensure that comply with the international law and those people who breaks the law must be prosecuted.
"Israel,as the occupying power, must abide by its obligations under international law.The Israeli security forces' use of airstrikes and other military weapons and tactics violates human rights norms and standards applicable to law enforcement operations.Alleged unlawful killings must be thoroughly and independently investigated and those responsible held to account,"concluded Shamsadani. It is reported that the occupation forces arrested dozens of civilians which includes children and also busy conducting field investigations across West Bank.
"The Israeli occupation forces have arrested at least 20 citizens since the start of the military operation announced in the West Bank. This figure includes confirmed cases as the raids continue throughout various areas of the West Bank, and it is subject to change hourly.Notably, among those arrested are children.
"The occupation forces continue to conduct field investigations in towns and refugee camps in the governorates of Tulkarem,Jenin,Tubas, and Ramallah. These investigations have involved dozens of citizens and have been accompanied by severe and horrifying abuses and violations against the people, leaving visible signs of torture and mistreatment on the bodies of those released later.
"Additionally, the occupation announced today the arrest of dozens of workers present in the 1948 occupied territories.
It is noted that the Israeli occupation forces have arrested over 10,300 citizens from the West Bank, including Al-Quds,since the beginning of the ongoing genocide war and comprehensive aggression against our people,"said The Palestinian Prisoner's Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners' Club.
