The South Africa's most-loved Maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose won his first-prestigious international award during HAPA Awards ceremony in Los Angeles,USA.
Khuzani also became the first South African artist for Maskandi genre to be given a spotlight in the international event such as Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards, and was announced as a winner of Best Independent Male Artist(African).
His victory in the foreign land far away from home has signified his undisputed title as the King of Maskandi music, the genre which is loved and followed by millions of people beyond South Africa.
Khuzani has won almost every award in South Africa during fifteen years of his illustrious career as a professional artist, and in total he had won 23 awards including the HAPA award.
On Monday,03 November 2025,Khuzani informed his fans that he will be honoured with an award during Icons of Africa Awards on 6 December 2025 in Sandton,Johannesburg.
In the upcoming weekend,on 8 November,Khuzani will be hosting his 4th Annual Gcwalisa Spring Picnic All White event at Kings Park,Durban.
He is expected to release his long-waited album for this year on 21 November 2025.
Khuzani's background
He was born and bred at Mandaba area which follows under Nkandla Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal province, he was raised by his own paternal grandmother Cagwe after his parents died when he was a teenager.
He rose to fame in 2009 after he was invited by the owner of Izingane Zoma Music,Shobeni Khuzwayo,to complete the late Mgqumeni's album iSecret.
He released his debut studio album Bahluleke Bonke in 2011,and that album won Best Selling Album at the Amantshontsho ka Maskandi Awards.
