Liverpool and Portuguese striker Diogo Jota(28) has perished in a car crash alongside his younger brother Andre Silva(25) in the early hours of Thursday morning in Zamora,Spain.

According to media reports,Silva's brothers lost their lives after the vehicle were traveling with lost control due to trye blowout when was overtaking and caught fire,the accident happened in the municipality of Cernadilla in Zamora at around 00:30 local time.

His untimely death came as a shock because 10 days ago he was marrying his childhood lover Rute Cardoso and they had three children.

He joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and since then made 123 appearances and scored 47 goals,in his five years at Anfield won two English Premier League titles.

His club has released the statement to confirm the sad news of the passing of their striker and his brother,also requested to be given privacy to mourn for the loss.

"Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother,Andre.

"Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre's family,friends,teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.

We will continue to provide them with our full support,"said club statement.

His younger brother Andre was also a footballer and was playing as an attacking midfielder for a Portuguese club Penafiel on second division.

The Portuguese Football Federation has offered its condolences to the families and friends of Diogo and Andre,and their clubs,and the Federation also asked the continental football body to mourn the death of these players and also promised to keep their legacy alive.

"The Portuguese Football Federation would like to offer the deepest condolences to the families and friends of Diogo and Andre,as well as Liverpool FC and FC Penafiel,the respective clubs of the players.

"The Portuguese Football Federation has asked UEFA to hold a minute's silence ahead of our national team's match against Spain in the Women's European Championship on Thursday.

We have lost two champions.Their deaths represent irreparable losses for Portuguese football,and we will do everything we can to honour their legacy every day,"said Portuguese Football Federation statement.
