The 29-year-old man was fatally injured on Douglas Saunders Road at Hambanathi,Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal after he was dragged several metres by a bin truck on Thursday.
The KwaZulu-Natal based security company Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) confirmed its members responded to the scene where found the deceased and truck driver,and spoke with the driver.
"Members of Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) were dispatched to the scene and on arrival located the male in a prone position.He bled extensively from injuries to his stomach and head.
"The driver of a Mercedes Benz Axor bin truck belonging to Durban Waste Services(DWS),stated that he was collecting refuse bags when he saw the man sitting by the roadside.
"As he drove downhill,a bystander alerted him that someone was being dragged by his struck.The driver was unaware that the pedestrian entered the roadway.The man was dragged approximately 10 metres.
The identity of the deceased has been established,"said RUSA.
