Police have arrested a third suspect in connection with the murder of popular South African DJ, radio personality and security businessman Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock. On Wednesday, 9 September 2026, KwaZulu-Natal police apprehended 40-year-old Hlengiwe Goodness Buthelezi in the Ngcengeni area of Msinga.
She had been wanted on a warrant for alleged conspiracy to commit murder and murder linked to Stock's killing. Buthelezi is expected to be handed over to Gauteng police and is due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.
The killing
Stock was shot and killed on 16 December 2025 outside the Zambesi Building near the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg's central business district. He was approached by suspects after parking his vehicle; they opened fire before fleeing on foot.
Investigators have linked the killing to a dispute over the building. Stock's security company had been appointed to install a biometric access system, and he had taken out a protection order related to criminal activity and illegal occupation at the premises.
Earlier arrests and convictions
Victor Majola, aged around 44 and described as a taxi boss, was arrested shortly after the murder in late December 2025. He is accused of masterminding the hit and remains in custody after being denied bail. He faces charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. His case has been postponed several times and was scheduled to return to the Johannesburg High Court on 18 September 2026.
Joaquim Armando Pacula, a 25-year-old Mozambican national, was arrested in January 2026 in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose. He pleaded guilty to murder and related charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as immigration offences, admitting he carried out the shooting in exchange for R25 000. He was sentenced in August 2026 to an effective 25 years in prison.
Alleged role of the third suspect
Police and court-related reports indicate that Buthelezi is believed to be Majola's girlfriend. Investigators allege she forwarded Stock's vehicle details, personal information and details relating to his partner to Majola ahead of the killing.
Police had publicly released her photograph in August 2026 and appealed for information leading to her arrest. KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that officers followed intelligence to a homestead in the Msinga area where Buthelezi was found hiding.
Ongoing investigation
The arrest marks a significant development nearly nine months after Stock's death. Investigations into the high-profile case continue as authorities pursue remaining aspects of the alleged conspiracy.
