South Africa's goalkeeper Ronwen Williams nominated for Yachin Trophy in 2024 Ballon d'Or awards

South African international goalkeeper Ronwen Williams makes history to be the first African based player to be nominated for Yachin Trophy in 2024 Ballon d'Or awards.
The 32-year-old's hard work as the captain and goalkeeper of Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns has got a deserving recognition in the world stage.
Williams' outstanding performance in the season of 2023/2024 has given him more attention from an international football fraternity as now is considered as one of the best 10 goalkeepers in the world.
Last season,in the club level he won these trophies and awards African Football League, African Football League Best Goalkeeper,DStv Premiership League,PSL Footballer of the Season,DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season,and he made 59 appearances and 35 clean sheets.
Again last season in the international level,Williams left mark in the hearts of football lovers when he saved four penalties against Cape Verde and he was chosen as AFCON Best Goalkeeper and won Bronze with Bafana Bafana after finishing in third place in AFCON and won COSAFA Men's Goalkeeper of the Year.
Williams was born 32 years ago in Gqeberha(formerly known as Port Elizabeth) in Eastern Cape and he began football career playing youth clubs such as Shatterprufe Rovers,Tottenham Hotspur and SuperSport United.
His senior football career began in 2010 when he joined a senior team of SuperSport United from its development and he spent twelve years with SuperSport United where he made 278 appearances and left the club in 2022 to join Mamelodi Sundowns.
