South Africa's most-loved footwear brand Drip is liquidated

South Africa's most-loved footwear brand Drip has been forced to liquidation by the High Court in Johannesburg and dozens of its employees dismissed earlier this week.
Drip Footwear was owned by Drip Group which was founded by Lekau Sehoana few years ago in 2019 on the dust streets of Ivory Park at Tembisa township in Ekurhuleni.
The liquidation of Drip Footwear was spearheaded by outdoor advertising company Wideopen Platform which was owed R20 million by the footwear brand for the services which were rendered.
The court battle between Wideopen Platform and Drip Footwear began at the beginning of this year on February and Drip's founder tried to save his business however he lost the battle.
Wideopen Plaftorm is a subsidiary of Primedia Unlimited,has offices in Johannesburg,Durban,Cape Town and is also represented in Australia,and has worked with big brands such as Nokia,Nivea and many others.
The liquidation order will affects all 14 stores which are owned by Drip in various malls across the country.
He informed his employees about their dismissal on the 7th of this month and asked them to return all Drip Footwear assets such as laptops,cellphones,company cars,fuel cards for smooth transition of the liquidation process.
Few years ago,it was reported that the Drip Footwear worth more than R250 million and was sponsor of football club called Moroka Swallows which was playing in the South African top-flight before being sold earlier this year.
