The 15-year-old girl was repeatedly raped by unknown man on Monday night while was sitting in the local park with her 18-year-old male friend at Parkgate in KwaZulu-Natal.

The security company which responded to the call from the victim's sister discovered that the unknown rapist was carried a gun and threatened to shoot them if they did not want to obey his instructions, but the friend of the teenage girl refused to have sex with her.

"Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) responded to a residential property in Parkgate - KZN at 13:17 (Tuesday). Reports were received from a female that her sister had been repeatedly raped last night at 19:30 (Monday).

"A female Reaction Officer was dispatched to the scene and interviewed a fifteen(15) year old, grade ten (10) pupil (school name withheld) who explained that she was at a local park last night with an eighteen (18) year old male friend when they were approached by an unknown African male.

During a conversation the unknown suspect produced a pistol & fired a round, he then pointed the firearm instructing both the male & female to remove their clothing. The female was forced to lie face down on a flight of stairs & her friend was instructed to have sex with her. When he refused, the suspect threatened to shoot him. The suspect then repeatedly raped the female while holding them against their will for an extended period. The rapist then advised both victims to abandoned their studies & careers and turn to crime if they needed quick money. He then fled with the male victim's Hisense mobile phone," said RUSA.

The security company was told that the suspect used a stolen phone to send videos of himself raping that girl to any number which was on that phone using WhatsApp.

"Reaction Officers learnt that the suspect had later used the stolen phone & sent videos of the rape to numerous random contacts on the phone. The video was sent using the WhatsApp one time view feature.

"The eighteen (18) year old male informed officers that his phone didn't have a lock code or password & that during the rape, he noticed that the suspect was using a light from another mobile phone to record.

Both victims explained that they had not reported the incident last night out of fear," concluded RUSA.
