The Eastern Cape police has confirms an arrest of three employees who work for bakery company for perjury charges.
According to South African Police Service(SAPS),three employees from a bread company,thought they could loaf around with the truth,but found themselves toast after getting caught lying about being hijacked on Saturday,16 March 2024 in Sterkspruit.
These three employees staged their own robbery and hijacking then after chose to go to the nearest police to report a fake crime.
Police said it is alleged that on the mentioned date at about 16:00,the driver of the bread truck reported at SAPS Sterkspruit and indicated that his two crew members and himself were stopped by five suspects in a white Ford bakkie in Herschel.They managed to run away and when they returned,they found the safe and the money missing.They then drove to the police station to report the incident.
Unfortunately,both employees got arrested on the scene by the police after discovered that lied about so-called robbery and hijacking.
Police reported that during the preliminary investigation,police searched the truck and found money hidden amongst the crates of bread.The trio failed to provide a reasonable explanation about the hidden cash and the three men,aged 29,38 and 40 years old were arrested on charges of theft and perjury.
Both bakery employees are expected to appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrate Court on Monday,18 March 2024.
Col Xolani Dyasopu,Joe Gqabi Acting District Commissioner said these three employees were entrusted with the safety and integrity of their company's assets,yet they chose to betray that trust for personal gain.However,their actions were not without repercussions,as careful investigation led to their apprehension.By holding individuals accountable for their deceitful actions,we send a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
Two suspects arrested for rape in separate incidents
The SAPS in the Eastern Cape has confirmed an arrest of two suspects who accused of rape and these incidents happened over the weekend in Libode and Lusikisiki.
Police statement said in the first incident,on Friday,15 March 2024 at about 21:00,at Ntilini locality in Sibangweni A/A in Libode,a suspect was arrested for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl.It is alleged that the child went missing and while neighbours were searching for her,they found her with the 30-year-old suspect.The suspect was arrested and detained on a charge of rape.
The second suspect was also arrested in a separate incident in the Lusikisiki area for raping a teenage girl.
The statement said in another unrelated incident,it is alleged that on Saturday,16 March 2024 at about 03:00,a 17-year-old teenager was raped at Nyathi A/A,Mnqezu locality in Lusikisiki by her mother's ex-boyfriend.
In a third incident,the police in Lusikisiki are looking for a mother of young child found dumped in town.
The statement said police in Lusikisiki are also appealing to anyone who can assist in tracing the mother of a newborn baby girl that was found in the CBD on Friday,15 March 2024.It is alleged that at about 18:30,the infant was found near Khwalo funeral parlour,wrapped in a sheet and disposable nappy.The baby was admitted to hospital.
Two suspects involved in murder case arrested
The SAPS in the Lebowakgomo in Limpopo has arrested two suspects linked to a murder case happened on Sunday,17 March 2024 at Ga-Maja Moshate.
The police statement said police were summoned to the scene,on arrival they found the victim with a stab wound on his upper body.
The statement added that investigations found that the victim found two people fighting and tried to separate them.In the process,the suspect also came and suddenly produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim aged 37 on the upper body.
Unfortunately,the victim was succumbed to the injuries and his identify is yet not disclosed and the suspects arrested.
"Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene,and the victim was certified dead.His identity is currently withheld and will be announced as investigations unfold.
"Police opened a case of murder.Two suspects were arrested.
The suspect linked to the murder will soon appear before Lebowakgomo Magistrate's Court,"concludes police statement.
