On Sunday,the collaboration of law enforcement officers yielded positive results following an arrest of three suspects which were sought for house robberies and Rolex robberies around Johannesburg.

 Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that an integrated and intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of three suspects who are believed to be involved in a spate of house robberies and Rolex robberies. The suspects were intercepted on Sunday,20 July 2025 in Malboro,Johannesburg,where they were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

 Lieutenant Colonel Masondo revealed that the law enforcement agencies received an information from crime intelligence about the suspects and then the officers utilised that information which was given them. "An information was received from Crime Intelligence members about suspects who are involved in a series of house robberies and Rolex robberies around Johannesburg.The information was that the suspects are driving in a white Toyota Corolla.

 The information was operationalised and a team of law enforcement officers comprising of South African Police Service Crime Intelligence,SAPS Johannesburg K9,SAPS Tracking team,CAP Specialised Operations and Tracker Connect were deployed to be in lookout for the suspects,"he said. 

He stated that officers spotted the vehicle in Sandton and tried to stop it but suspects did not obey the instructions and decided to fled away then were pursued in a high-speed chase. 

"The car that matched the description given was spotted driving in Sandton.The team attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspects sped off and high speed chase and shootout ensued.The suspects' vehicle crashed into a tree. 

All three suspects were cornered and arrested. In their possession,police found two unlicensed firearms loaded with ammunition. A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle used by the suspects was affixed with false registration plates,"he added. 

The suspects were charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.More charges might be added,pending the investigation,concluded Lieutenant Colonel Masondo.
