During the Holy Month of Ramadan,the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited the people of Somalia who are living in dire conditions due to droughts, famine and political instability in the country.
He arrived in Somalia on Tuesday morning where he was welcomed by Somalia's Foreign Minister Abshir Omar Huruse at the airport.
He held a joint press conference with Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at Villa Somalia which is the federal government premises.
He is visiting Somalia for the second as a UN chief as he visited the country back in March 2017.
The UN chief shared his pictures on his twitter where he was visiting families who have been forced to flee their homes due to terrorism and drought,and those affected are in a camp in Baidoa,the largest city in Somalia's South West state.
He emphasized that the people of Somalia needs the international intervention as they are suffering in many ways.
In his trip to Somalia was accompanied by the Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia,Adam Abdelmoula,who also serves as his Deputy Special Representative for the country.
The UN News has revealed that Guterres urged the massive intervention from the international community as the situation people of Somalia living is not good.
"It is time for the international community to mobilise much more support,support for the Somalis to guarantee the security of their people and fight terrorism,support for the Somalis to solve the humanitarian drama that we can witness in a camp like this one.
"And support to the Somalis in creating the conditions to build the resilience of their population and to create a path of development for the people of Somalia,"Mr Guterres said after the meetings.
"In the Holy Month of Ramadan,"he added,"we need to have generosity from the international community that is absolutely crucial to rescue these people that I've seen in this camp,and that live in such dramatic circumstances."
Except drought and famine ,the people are terrorised on daily basis by a militant group that is linked to Al-Qaeda that is known as Al-Shabaab which was founded in 2006 and that group has conducted massive bombings around the capital city of Somalia,Mogadishu.
