Dr Nasiphi Moya,a member of ActionSA has been elected as the new Executive Mayor of City Of Tshwane,a capital city of the Republic of the South Africa.

Dr Moya received 122 out of 208 votes and Brink received only 86 votes and no spoiled votes were cast during voting proceedings.

She defeated Democratic Alliance(DA)'s Cilliers Brink who was the Mayor of that metro before being axed few weeks ago during a vote of no confidence against him which was tabled by opposition parties.

Her nomination as the new mayor of the capital city was supported by opposition political parties such as Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) and African National Congress(ANC).

Before being elected as a Mayor,Moya was occupying a position of Deputy Mayor of that metro for nine months while Brink was the Mayor.

In her acceptance speech, she made it clear that she is aware that the City of Tshwane is facing political instability and urged all politicians to put aside politics and bring stability to the metro.

She said the anxiety and political instability that has plagued this city is not lost on me.But,my vow today is to put the politics of the past behind us and bring stability to the city we call home.

She emphasised that she is in that hot seat to serve all residents of the City of Tshwane and she is not there for a political party but for the people of that metro.

"I am not an ActionSA mayor,or a mayor from any other party for that matter.

"I am not a mayor for one community or demographic.

"I am a mayor for all 4 million residents of Tshwane, and on that point I am non-negotiable.

To the residents of Soshanguve,Hammanskraal,Mamelodi,Centurion,Bronkhorstpruit,Ga-Rankuwa,Lynwood,Kameeldrift,Waterkloof,Irene,Sokhulumi and everyone residing in between,I am here to tell you that I am a mayor for all,"said Dr Moya.

She confessed that the City of Tshwane is facing huge inequality amongst its citizens and she promised to close that gap.

"I fully appreciate the troubling reality of the growing divide between the affluent and the disadvantaged, which has become a defining characteristic of our city.

Many residents are facing significant challenges in accessing basic services and opportunities. My vow is to work tirelessly to bridge this gap and ensure that we create a more just and inclusive city where all residents, regardless of their economic status or geographic location, have access to quality services,"she added.

She revealed that residents of Tshwane in all communities are asking the government to fix the roads, collect refuse, keep the lights on and provide them with clean water.

Dr Moya is one of the most highly-qualified mayors in the country as she armed with a PhD in Political Science from University of Western Cape,Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration from University of Cape Town,Honours Degree in Public Administration from University of Cape Town and Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from University of Cape Town.

She was born in Eastern Cape, grew up in a rural village called Mpekweni in Mthatha and attended her secondary education at Zisukhanyo Secondary and she started to live in the City of Tshwane in 2016.

From 2016 to 2024,the City Of Tshwane has been changing mayors like nobody's business, and in that period Democratic Alliance(DA) had four mayors and all of them did not finish their terms in office.

These are DA's mayors which occupied that office are as follows:Solly Msimanga(August 2016-February 2019),Stevens Mokgalapa(November 2019-February 2020),Randall Williams(October 2020-February2023) and Cilliers Brink(March 2023-October 2024).
