Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) reported that a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in a lower back during robbery while he was heading home from school after writing exams on Wednesday before midday at Phoenix,Durban in KwaZulu-Natal.
The security company mentioned that the boy was found on the roadside of Phoenix Highway after he collapsed due bleeding.
"Members of Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA) were called out to Phoenix Highway at 11:39 after the Daleview Secondary learner collapsed along the roadside.On arrival,Reaction Officers found the Grade 10 pupil bleeding from a single stab wound to his lower back,"said RUSA statement.
RUSA revealed that the learner told their officers that he was going home in Inanda when he was attacked by a robber which was carrying a knife.
"He informed officers that he left school after writing examinations.He was proceeding to his residence in Inanda-KZN on foot when he was accosted by a lone suspect near Ghandi Park.The robber produced a knife and deprived the scholar of his bag,"RUSA statement added.
RUSA stated that the learner was stabbed because refused submit to the demands of an attacker and that led to a little fight.
"The teenager attempted to fight his off his attacker when he was asked to hand over his cellphone.He was stabbed in the back during the scuffle.The suspect fled on foot without taking his cellular device.The injured male walked towards the main road and collapsed next to a member of the public who operates a welding business,"RUSA statement continued.
RUSA concluded that paramedics stabilised the boy before transporting him to a medical facility.
