Kaizer Chiefs has disappointed its supporters again this season when failed to secure the spot in the top 8 for the second season in a row after playing 0-0 draw against Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon at FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi finished the 2024/25 season stuck in position nine in a log table of the inaugural Betway Premiership with just only 32 points in 28 games played this season.
It is not the first time for the Glamour Boys to find themselves in this situation and in the previous season they failed too to book a spot in the top 8,and they wrapped that season in position 10 with only 36 points in 30 games.
Nasreddine Nabi's side went in their last match for the 2024/25 season hoping that they would get all three points against Rise and Shine so that they can participate in the upcoming MTN 8 Wafa Wafa competition, unfortunately their one point was not enough.
They were kicked out of the top 8 by Richards Bay FC which has collected all three points in their last match against SuperSport United after winning 2-0,and Natal Rich Boyz victory yesterday contributed to the downfall of both Amakhosi and Chippa United which were hoping that they will secure a spot in the top 8 because they went to their last games sitting on position 8 and 9 with 31 points.
Chiefs headed in that game hoping that they can make miracles because they knew that they were not capable of defeating Rise and Shine after they failed win even a single match in their last eight games.
Despite being out in the cold again this season,at least Amakhosi family will comfort themselves with the trophy of Nedbank Cup which they won few weeks ago after beating their archrival Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium, and that victory paved the way for them to participate in the continental competition next season.
Nabi had a very terrible season in the helm of the Naturena-based club even though he helped it to end a 10-year curse of not winning any major trophy in the South African football competitions,Chiefs has lost more than ten games in the league under the leadership of Nasreddine and that is an insult for a huge club like them which has everything for the coach to produce positive results.
