The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo has officially launched a manhunt for a 22-year-old male following a report of statutory rape originating from the Lonsdale clinic.
The investigation was initiated on Friday, 10 April 2026, after a 16-year-old girl arrived at the clinic accompanied by her grandmother for a medical follow-up.
Discovery at Lonsdale clinic
The visit was originally scheduled to review results examinations conducted on 02 April as part of a procedure to commence family planning services. During the consultation at approximately 07:20, a nurse on duty confirmed that the teenager is pregant.
During a subsequent private interview with health officials, the minor disclosed that she had been engaging in sexual intercourse with her boyfriend, who is 22 years of age.
Legal proceedings and manhunt
Because the suspect is an adult and the victim is a minor, the matter was immediately reported to the local police station and a case of statutory rape was registered for further investigation.
While the identity of the suspect is known to the authorities, he has not yet been apprehended. A manhunt has been activated to trace and arrest the individual, and police investigations remain ongoing.
Official appeal for public assistance
The South African Police Service is now appealing to members of the community who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward and assist with the case.
