Bafana Bafana has dropped two crucial points in a 1-1 draw during their return match for AFCON 2025 qualifiers at Stade Alphonse Massamba,Congo Brazzaville on Tuesday evening.
Elias Mokwana scored an opener on the 33rd minute for Bafana Bafana to make score 0-1 after the home team defence failed to intercept him.
South Africa's engine in the midfield Themba Zwane was substituted on the 40th minute after being injured and was replaced by Patrick Maswanganyi.
Zwane's injury in Congo Brazzaville was second setback for the visitors because in the first match against the same team they were forced to substitute Lyle Foster who was injured on the left knee when they were playing at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Friday last week.
The home team supporters tried to disrupt the match throwing objects to the field after the goal for their team was ruled out as an offside and Aubrey Modiba was seen removing those objects next to the Ronwen Williams' 18 area box.
The host scored an equaliser on the 45th minute with the foot of Bassouamina to level the score 1-1 before going on halftime.
During the second-half,the home team tried by all means to find a second goal however all their attempts were deemed void by the visitors defence.
The second-half ended without a goal because both teams were shooting wide and that led both side to share points after the match ended 1-1.
Following the last night results in Congo Brazzaville, now Bafana Bafana is sitting on second position with 8 points and is trailing behind Uganda which has 10 points, and Congo Brazzaville is in third position with 4 points while South Sudan is sitting on the bottom of Group K with 0 points.
In another Group K result,Uganda has crushed South Sudan 1-2 in away match in Juba, the visitors won with goals scored by Denis Omedi on the 16th minute and own-goal netted by Alfred Leku on the 66th minute, and the consoling goal for the home team was scored on the 21st minute by Yohamma Juma.
In November,Bafana Bafana will travel to Uganda and will host South Sudan - they are not expected to drop another points if they want to go to Morocco next year.
