Durban City FC(previously known as Maritzburg United) announced few days ago that appointed Gavin Hunt as a new head coach ahead of the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership season.
The Port Elizabeth-born tactician is expected to play an instrumental role in his new job as the head coach of the newly-promoted KwaZulu-Natal based club which was relegated at the end of 2023/24 season when was called Maritzburg United.
Hunt took over the control of the club which had no coach for almost three weeks after Sipho Dladla had contract disagreements with the management of the club.
Hunt is a seasoned coach armed with wealth of experience coaching in the top level of South African football, over the years won multiple league titles and trophies while was with SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits.
The owner of Durban City FC was confident about the decision they made as a club to appoint someone like Hunt to guide them in their return to the topflight football.

Last season,Hunt was sacked by SuperSport United following a poor strings of results and that decision helped the Pretoria-based club to avoid relegation.
Since then,he was sitting at home while searching green pastures elsewhere because he was confident that he can still contribute positively to the South African football and that why now emerged in Durban.
South African football fans know Gavin Hunt very well because he coached popular clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs,Bidvest Wits,Moroka Swallows and Chippa United in recent years.
