Orlando Pirates has announced the signings of new seven players such as Yanela Mbuthuma and Sinoxolo Kwayiba to strengthen its squad for the new season of 2025/2025 on Tuesday morning.
"Today marks the first step of the 2025/2026 season for both the current and the new crop of players - as they undergo the first day of preseason screenings.
After weeks of speculation and countless headlines across the football social media landscape,Orlando Pirates Football Club can officially confirm the signings of Yanela Mbuthuma(from Richard Bays),Masindi Nemtajela(Marumo Gallants),Tshepang Moremi(Amazulu),Nkosikhona Ndaba(Richards Bay),Sinoxolo Kwayiba(Chippa United),Tshepo Mashiloane(Baroka),and Sihle Nduli(Stellenbosch),"said Orlando Pirates statement.
The club revealed that these new players will join their teammates this morning where they will undergo a series of medical and physical assessments.
"The new crop of players will join their new teammates later this morning for Day 1 of preseason.
The day will comprise of a series of medical and physical assessments,an essential step in ensuring every player is equipped for the rigorous of the campaign ahead.Club doctors and performance staff will meticulously guide the players through baseline tests and evaluations which is vital not only for fitness tracking,but also tailoring individual training plans,"the club statement added.
During the day,the new players will get an opportunity to meet with the Buccaneers legends such as Lucky Lekgwathi and many more,the club revealed that the real work will begin next week.
"Following the tests - the new players will be taken through an induction process that all new players undergo.
"Transitioning to a club of Orlando Pirates' stature goes beyond the pitch.The new signings will have the opportunity to interact with some of the club legends such as Edward Motale,Lucky Lekgwathi,Happy Jele,and other legends.This coupled with a series of visits - includes a trip to Soweto to visit a place that they will be calling home for the 2025/26 season - Orlando Stadium,the Mecca of the South African Football.
While for the next two days,focus will be on integration and assessments,the real work begins next week,when head coach and his technical staff will take the reins for the formal start of football side of preseason,"the club statement concluded.
Few days ago,Bucs announced an appointment of Abdelsam Ouaddou as the new head coach of the Mighty Buccaneers and filled the vacant left by Spanish tactician before the end of previous season when he joined Al Ahly SC.
The 46-year-old coach was born in Morroco and in his days a player played for his national team and earned more than 60 caps and spent most of his time as player in Europe.
The club announced that the new coach is expected to arrive in South Africa by the end of next week and in his new role will be assisted by Mandla Ncikazi and Rayaan Jacobs,Helmi Gueldich and Tyron Damons.
The club also announced that will travel to Spain for pre-season preparations and that will be their third international pre-season tour,during their tour they will play against Europeans opponents such as Bolton Wanderers(England),Pafos FC(Cyprus),Las Palmas(Spain) and Granada(Spain).
