On Wednesday,the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has imposed sanctions on UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese for exposing U.S. and Israel inhumane activities in Gaza since October 2023.

Rubio accused Francesca for doing her official duties as a United Nations representative in the occupied Palestinian Territories where she compiled explosives reports which contained the names of officials, companies and businesspeople which participated in an ongoing genocide in the enclave which has claimed more than 60,000 civilian lives.

"Today I am imposing sanctions on UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese for her illegitimate and shameful efforts to prompt @IntlCrimCourt action against U.S. and Israeli officials,companies,and executives.Albanese's campaign of political and economic warfare against the United States and Israel will no longer be tolerated.We will always stand by our partners in their right to self-defense.The United States will continue to take whatever actions we deem necessary to respond to lawfare and protect our sovereignty and that of our allies,"said Marco Rubio.

The United Nations Human Rights Council has spoken out following U.S. sanctions against Francesca and urged UN Member States to stop intimidating Special Rapporteurs.

"I regret the decision of the United States Government to impose sanctions on Ms. Francesca Albanese,the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.Ms. Albanese was appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council.Special Rapporteurs are an essential instrument of the Council in fulfilling its mandate to promote and protect all human rights worldwide.I call on all UN Member States to fully cooperate with the Special Rapporteurs and mandate holders of the Council and to refrain from any acts of intimidation or reprisal against them,"said Ambassador Jurg Lauber,President of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Despite U.S. sanctions against her,masses of people are rallying behind Francesca because she did not do anything wrong which might led the the United States to sanctioned her.

The Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament has expressed its support for Francesca as she stood against Netanyahu's genocide in Gaza.

"We are with you,Francesca,and with all those fighting for justice for the Palestinian people!The new sanctions imposed by the Trump administration on the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine are outrageous.This is yet another blatant attempt to silence anyone critical of Netanyahu's war crimes,"said Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament.

The Socialists and Democrats are hoping that the European Union will do as Francesca has done and support ICC and suspend existing trade agreement with Israel.

"Standing up for human rights,peace and justice is not a crime!We expect the European Union to show the same strength and courage as Francesca Albanese,show support to the International Criminal Court,suspend the EU-Israel trade agreement,ban all arms exports to Israel and support efforts for a ceasefire and the release of the hostages held by Hamas,"concluded Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.
