On Friday, the United Nations General Assembly has adopted resolution on 'protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations' for an ongoing crisis in Gaza,Palestine.

The draft resolution that was presented by Jordan received an overwhelming majority of votes who voted in favour of it.

Out of 179 countries who were represented in the UN General Assembly,120 voted in favour,45 countries abstained and 14 voted against the resolution.

The UN emergency session followed a failure of the UN Security Council to reach agreement on four draft resolutions which submitted since this ongoing war between Israel and Hamas broke out on 7 October 2023.

The resolution was adopted after getting a momentum which is two-thirds majority of votes from members of the General Assembly on that particular day.

Israel and its ally United States of America voted against the humanitarian truce and that was expected because few days ago US vetoed the drafted resolution during the UN Security Council meeting.

It was shocking to see some of Israel's allies voting in favour of the resolution and others chose to abstain.

France voted in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution and United Kingdom,Germany and Canada chose to abstain.

Despite the adoption of the UNGA resolution but Israel continued with ground attacking of the Gaza Strip on Friday evening.

Israeli forces disrupted means of communications for Gazans with the outside worldwide as there was not internet from Friday till today around Gaza.

United Nations and other humanitarian aid organisations who are present there reported that they lost communication with their own staff on the ground in Gaza.

The Palestinian telecommunications company(Paltel) has confirmed that all its infrastructure is destroyed by Israeli bombardments.

More than 7500 civilians killed by Israeli forces since 7 October, more than 1.1 million Gazans are internally displaced, more than 1600 civilians reported missing which are believed to be stuck under rubles.

Hospitals are overwhelmed by civilians casualties and most of injured civilians are receiving medical attention on the hospitals corridors.
