The Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) opened the case against Cedrick Nkabinde at Cape Town Central police station for misleading Parliament through his testimony on Thursday.
Nkabinde is the Chief of Staff for the suspended Minister of Police,Senzo Mchunu, was summoned by Ad Hoc Committee which was launched to investigate political interference in the police and justice systems of the Republic.
"The Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) confirms that we have received an official case from the South African Police Service(SAPS) relating to the perjury and obstruction allegations arising from the testimony of Mr Cedrick Nkabinde before the Ad Hoc Committee on 13 November 2025.
The EFF welcomes the registration of this case as a critical step in ensuring that deliberate dishonesty under oath is met with the full force of the law. This was not a mere issue of oversight or confusion. It was a calculated and deliberate misinterpretation of facts intended to mislead Parliament and protect those implicated in wrongdoing. Such conduct represents a direct attack on the integrity of Parliament and the constitutional principle of accountability," said the EFF statement.
EFF emphasised that opening a case against Cedrick Nkabinde is not just political performance but want to set an example to all people who thinks will come in Parliament to disrespect it, the Red Berets promised to monitor the case till the end.
"The EFF will be following this case very closely. We will make an example with Mr Nkabinde, no one undermines an oath before Parliament and lives to tell the story without consequence. This must serve as a clear warning to all who will appear before the Ad Hoc Committee that deception, distortion, and political manipulation will not be tolerated. We are treating this Ad Hoc matter with the gravity it deserves.
"The EFF will monitor every development in the investigation and any resulting prosecutions to ensure that the truth prevails and justice is served. This is not a political performance; it is determined effort to defend the integrity of Parliament and to confront the deep-seated rot within our justice and policing systems.
Those who come before Parliament must understand that honesty is not optional, it is a constitutional and moral obligation. The EFF will continue to expose corruption, challenge deceit, and hold all who betray the public trust fully accountable," concluded the EFF statement.
