Grade 11 learner arrested for rape and sexual assault of two Grade R minors

Police in Limpopo outside Polokwane arrested a 17-year-old Grade 11 male learner and appeared in Polokwane Children's Court on charges of rape and sexual assaults on the 26 and 27 August 2024.

Police said according to reports,the victim,a 6-year-old girl in Grade R,was raped(fingered) by the accused,a Grade 11 learner at one of the Christian schools outside Polokwane in Dalmada,on Wednesday,07 August 2024 while waiting in the vehicle of one of the teacher's who was transporting them to their residence.

Police said on the second incident,a 6-year-old Grade R victim met with the same accused,who asked her to touch his private parts while going to drink water at the school.

According to police,both the victims reported the matter to their parents,who later reported to the school.

Police said both cases were opened by the police on Friday,23 August 2024.The accused was arrested on Saturday,24 August 2024,after being handed in by the adopted mother.

The police preliminary investigation discovered that the accused,a foreign national is staying with his adopted mother and his adoptive mother is teaching in the same school.

The accused is detained at Polokwane Juvenile Centre until his first appearance,the case was postponed to Tuesday,10 September 2024 for further investigations.

Fake municipality workers arrested for selling jobs in Emfuleni

Three fake municipality workers have been arrested by Vaal Rand-based Hawks' Serious Crime Investigation for selling jobs to Ratanda residents at Emfuleni Municipality.

According to police,a case of corruption was registered at Ratanda police station earlier in August this year.It was reported that on 30 April 2024,complaints were received from community members in Ratanda stating that there was a recruitment scheme by a syndicate pretending to be working at the Municipality.

Police said it is further alleged that community members were given Capitec bank account details.The said details were said to belong to the Member of the Mayoral Commitee(MMC) of Public Works.In return,the applicants received fraudulent employment contracts.

The Hawks' investigation has led to the arrest of three people involved in the syndicate,the three accused are Teboho Prince Mabote(28),Rocky Moholola(29),and Matshediso Motseare(40).It is alleged that they have benefited more than R200,000 from the unlawful scheme.

Both accused appeared in the Heidelberg Magistrate's Court on Monday,26 August 2024.Their case was postponed to Thursday,29 August 2024,for a bail hearing.
