On Saturday,23 December,the police in Polokwane,Limpopo Province has arrested a 45-year-old man which was plotting to kill his own wife.

An arrest of the suspect was executed by the Limpopo's special police unit after being tipped-off about the plot.

"It is reported that members of the SAPS Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team and the Murder and Robbery Unit received information about a male person who was allegedly plotting to kill his wife.

The police operationalised information about the suspect and his evil intentions and was subsequently pounced on while he was at hiding place after arranging with a source to pay him a portion of the amount agreed for killing his wife.The suspect had already paid R5000 a portion of the agreed R15000-00,and the police ultimately managed to intercept and arrest him immediately after the transaction of cash payment was made,"police statement said.

The suspect is working for government and right now the motive behind the plot is not known yet,and he is expected to appear in court this week.

"The suspect who is reported to be an Educator by profession,was arrested on the spot and detained for conspiracy to commit murder.

"The motive behind the defused premeditated murder is unknown at this stage,and gender based violence and femicide cannot be ruled out.

The suspect is expected to appear before Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Wednesday,27 December 2023,"the police statement concludes.

Female suspect arrested for stolen copper

On Sunday,24 December,the police in Mothibistad,Northen Cape has arrested female suspect who was found in possession of stolen copper cables,stolen goods and ammunition.

"The members were executing crime prevention duties when they observed a bakkie that was reported and suspected to have been used in the theft of copper cable in Lime Acres.

"The observant members immediately went inside the premises where it was parked,and searched both the premises and the vehicle.

The driver of the bakkie was not found but his wife was at the premises.She however informed the police that her husband was the owner of the bakkie but he left for Hotazel,"police statement said.

While inside the premises the police conducted a search where discovered various goods which are suspected to be stolen plus ammunition.

"As members searched the premises they discovered the following suspected stolen goods and electric appliances including 10 rolls of melted copper cables with an estimated value of R200 000-00;3 * plasma television sets,3 * cellphones,17 * live 9mm rounds of ammunition and 3 * big orange cones.

"All the items were found hidden under the bed at a hostel in Kagung N14 in Carwash Street.

The 32-year-old female was arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property and will soon appear in court.While the police are still searching for her husband,"police statement concludes.
