Kaizer Chiefs has managed to secure the signature of Sibongiseni Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC before transfer window closes in less than 48 hours.
The 29-year-old Bafana international has signed a three-year deal with the Naturena-based outfit which would keep him there until June 2026.
Mthethwa played for teams such as Royal Eagles and Black Leopards before joining Stellenbosch FC,during his stay at Stellenbosch has been featured 29 times last season, and he made his debut for Bafana Bafana in September 2022.
The management of Phefeni Boys seems to be excited after his club succeeded to convince the Stellies management to sell them the Ox so that they would reinforce their squad for the ongoing season.
"We warmly welcome Sibongiseni Mthethwa to the team.We know he's a good player with great experience under his belt.We believe that he will hit the ground running and contribute straight away, knowing fully well what is expected of every player that dons the Gold & Black jersey of Amakhosi. We look forward to many great performances in the next coming seasons,"said Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr.
He added,"We would like, once again,to thank Stellenbosch for their professionalism during our negotiations, and we look forward to the continuation of our working well together."
The Ox is expected to move to Joburg soon and will officially join his new teammates at training on Monday,25 September.
His arrival to Naturena might bring hope to the furious fans who are violent lately after a streak of poor results over the years.
On Wednesday evening at Peter Mokaba Stadium,Amakhosi has suffered a painful 1-0 loss to Matsatsantsa a Pitori in a DStv Premiership encounter which was dominated by them for the entire 90 minutes despite the goal that conceded in the first two minutes of the game.
The midweek result left Kaizer Chiefs in seventh place on the DStv Premiership log, with just eight from the six matches played so far this season.
This weekend the Glamour Boys are having difficult task ahead of them as they will travel to Atteridgeville to take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the MTN8 semifinal.
