Kaizer Chiefs has sacked its head coach Molefi Ntseki after a trail of poor results since he took over in June 2023.
The decision of Kaizer Chiefs management to dismiss Molefi is evident that they were motivated by their latest lose against Amazulu FC on weekend at FNB Stadium.
On weekend, the Chiefs was eliminated in the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup last 16 when Ntseki's boys took away their eyes from the ball on 88th minute of game and then Amazulu capitalised on that to qualify for the next round.
Kaizer Chiefs' statement portrays the departure of Molefi Ntseki as something which was achieved in peaceful manner.
The statement reads, following a meeting on Monday morning,Molefi Ntseki's tenure as Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs has ended amicably by mutual consent.Given the recent run of disappointing results, the parties agreed that this was the best course of action under the prevailing circumstances.
The club has announced Calvin Johnson as the interim coach and will be assisted by Dillon Sheppard.
Both Johnson and Sheppard were working for Kaizer Chiefs' Youth Development Academy,so Johnson will be a First Team coach while Sheppard will retain his position under Johnson as an assistant.
Chiefs demoted Assistant Coach Arthur Zwane to his previous role within the development structures of the club.
Ntseki joined Kaizer Chiefs in June 2021 where he was appointed as Head of Technical and Youth Development, and then in June 2023 was promoted as senior team Head Coach when the club demoted Zwane.
Despite all the string of poor results for the club under Ntseki's guidance but the management still wishes him all the best in his next move.
"I would like to thank Coach Ntseki for his contribution to the Club since he arrived here, both at development level and with the senior team.We wish him success in his future endeavours,"said Sporting Director,Kaizer Motaung Jr.
Over the period of three years has appointed and fired four coaches before the arrival of Ntseki, the likes Ernst Middendorp,Gavin Hunt,Stuart Baxter,Arthur Zwane and now is him.
