Orlando Pirates humble Kaizer Chiefs in a derby encounter

Orlando Pirates has emerged as a conqueror during a Soweto derby encounter when humiliate its archrival Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 in the DStv Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Buccaneers used the Soccer City as their home ground for the match against the Glamour Boys due to high number of fans who were expected to attend that match as usual.

The match started in a fast gear because the visitors were able to score an opening goal in the first six minutes of first-half with the foot of Ashley Du Preez.

Despite conceding an early goal,the Buccaneers fought tirelessly seeking an equaliser and their attempts yielded positive result in the twenty-fourth minute when Monnapule Saleng leveled score to 1-1 after getting a ball from an impressive build of Patrick Maswanganyi and Tshegofatso Mabasa.

The hosts continued to press hard the visitors trying to get a second goal before the half-hour mark,however they failed to penetrate the defence wall of Amakhosi.

The visitors did not sit back and watched their opponent do as they please in their presence so in the forty-three minutes just two minutes away from the break Du Preez came back with a second goal to ensure that Chiefs went to break leading.

During the start of the second-half the Buccaneers continued where they left before the break because they were seen pushing back their opponent into their own half.

The Buccaneers struck their luck in the fifty-seven minute when Thabiso Lebitso seized a golden opportunity in a pass back from Deon Hotto outside the eighteen yard by scoring an impressive goal in a thundering strike to make score 2-2,and that ball left the Amakhosi goalkeeper Bvuma clueless on how to stop that burning shot.

That goal was the Lebitso's first goal wearing the black and white jersey for Orlando Pirates since he joined them at the start of the season from Chippa United.

In the sixty-eight minute the Buccaneers shown their visitors that they were not there to play marbles or hide and seek however to collect all three points when Saleng netted a third goal after receiving a beautiful ball from Maswanganyi to complete his brace for the day.

Trailing behind for the first time in the second-half has awaken sleepy Chiefs' players as they were seen that were gaining more ball possession in the last twenty minutes of the match in the pursuit of an equaliser.

However,the Buccaneers managed to hold on until the last minutes of the match to ensure that they secure their first back to back win against stubborn Amakhosi in a period of twenty-five years,and that win helped them to climb to second place in the log standings.

Saturday's results for other DStv Premiership games

In the second encounter at New Peter Mokaba Stadium between SuperSport United and AmaZulu,Victor Letsoalo scored a beautiful goal in delicate header to put his side Usuthu ahead in the first eighteen minutes of first-half after receiving a good ball from Augustine Mulenga,and in the seventh-fourth minute Lyle Lakay scored an equaliser for the home team to level the score to 1-1 and that match ended in a draw.

In the third encounter at Daine Craven Stadium between Stellenbosch FC and Cape Town Spurs,the visitors found at the back of the net in the forty-three minute of the first-half in a ball scored by Velebayi,in the seventh-first minute Iqraam Rayners scored an equaliser from the penalty spot and that match ended 1-1.

In the fourth encounter at Dobsonville Stadium between Moroka Swallows and Sekhukhune United,the visitors wasted no time to found back of the net in the first sixth minutes of the first-half in a goal scored by Linda Mntambo,in the thirty minute Everson scored an equaliser for the Dube Birds.In the sixty-three minute Tshibwabwa scored for Babina Noko through header from a corner kick to make score 1-2,and in the sixty-five minute Masiya scored for third goal for visitors and in the sixty-eight minute Webber scored a fourth goal for Sekhukhune United to make score 1-4.

In the fifth encounter at Lucas Moripe Stadium between Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United,the home team opened the scoring sheet in the ninth minutes the goal scored by Teboho Mokoena and the second goal for the host came with Tashreeq Matthews in the eighth-five minute,the game ended 2-0.

In the sixth encounter at King Zwelithini Stadium between Richards Bay FC and TS Galaxy FC,the entire ninth minutes ended with a goalless draw and that was not a good results for the Rich Boyz as they are facing a relegation if they persists with their poor results.

On Saturday,the South Africans witnessed a bunch of goals scored in six encounters of DStv Premiership across the country,sixteen goals were scored in total.
