Orlando Pirates players shined during 2023/24 PSL awards

Orlando Pirates players won eight awards during a 2023/24 Premier Soccer League Awards which was held on Sunday night,23 June 2024 at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

During the PSL awards ceremony,football enthusiasts witnessed the domination of Orlando Pirates players which bagged more awards than any players which play for other clubs such as Mamelodi Sundowns.

Orlando Pirates' midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi was the biggest winner of the night as he won three awards which includes DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season,DStv Premiership Players' Player of the Season,Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and in one of those awards he was competing with the likes of Stellenbosch FC's Iqraam Rayneers and Mamelodi Sundowns' goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

Orlando Pirates' youngest player Relebohile Mofokeng(19) has won two awards which includes DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament and in two of those awards was competing with SuperSport United's Shandre Campbell.

Pirates' player Thabiso Lebitso goal was chosen as a DStv Premiership Goal of the Season and that wonderful goal was scored when his club played against its main rival Kaizer Chiefs.

Pirates' striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has won DStv Premiership Top Goal Scorer award which affectionately known as Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot as he managed to score 16 goals beating Stellenbosch FC's striker Iqraam Rayners with narrow margin as he stuck on 15 goals.

Pirates' goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has won MTN 8 Last Man Standing awards for his outstanding performance when his side was playing against Mamelodi Sundowns,and in that award he was competing with his teammates such as Zakhele Lepasa and Patrick Maswanganyi.

Other winners of PSL awards

Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams walked away with the DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award as he was competing Stellenbosch FC's Sage Stephens and Sekhukhune United's Badra Sangare,and he also chosen as a Footballer of the Season as everybody will remember that Williams excelled both for his club and national team so he earned what he deserved.

Sundowns' defender Grant Kekana won the DStv Premiership Defender of the Season and nobody can dictate that because his presence in the defence of his club was noticeable and felt by opponents.

Sundowns' head coach Rhulani Mokwena was chosen as DStv Premiership Coach of the Season after winning the league title in a back-to-back and won African Football League title and his club qualified for the next Club World Cup,he was competing with Orlando Pirates' head coach Jose Riverio and Stellenbosch FC's head coach Steve Barker.

Other winners of the night were Sikhumbuzo Gasa(Referee of the Season),Romario Phiri(Assistant Referee of the Season),Mfanafuthi Prince Nxumalo for JDR Stars(Motsepe Foundation Championship Top Goal Scorer),Thabang Mahlangu for SuperSport United(DStv Diski Challenge Top Goal Scorer),Ntando Nkosi for Mamelodi Sundowns(DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season),Devin Titus for Stellenbosch FC(Carling Knockout Player of the Tournament) and the Charmain's Award won by Mamelodi Sundowns.
