Mamelodi Sundowns joins Orlando Pirates in Nedbank Cup final

Mamelodi Sundowns will horns with Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final after defeating Stellenbosch FC in the semifinal at Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazilians cemented their spot in the Nedbank Cup final when they crushed the Stellies in the presence of their own fans,and the visitors won the game 1-2.
Bafana Ba Style opened the scoring sheet in the twelve minutes with the goal which scored by Khuliso Mudau.
Rhulani Mokwena's side went to half-time leading with a single goal and that goal was a moral booster for Downs because they went there knowing very well that Stellies is dangerous team especially at home.
During the first half,the game was paused for almost five minutes when one of the flag man suffered a hamstring.
During the second half,both teams were on each others throat whereby the home team was trying to get an equaliser meanwhile the visitors were looking for the second goal to ensure that are out of danger.
On the 74th minute,Thembinkosi Lorch scored the second goal for Mamelodi Sundowns and that goal gave Mokwena a bit of relief although it was so early to relax.
The visitors were awarded a penalty on the 81st minute,unfortunately that penalty was fired over the crossbar by Namibian international Peter Shalulile.
On the 82nd minute,the home team scored the consoling goal which was converted by Genino Palace to capitalise on the mistake made by Shalulile when missed the penalty.
At the end of 90 minutes,Thapelo Morena was awarded the Man of the Match award and he deserved that award as he shown an outstanding performance to make sure that they proceed to final.
So,in less than four weeks from now Mamelodi Sundowns will try their luck in the final against Nedbank Cup defending champions Orlando Pirates at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday 1 June 2024.
DStv Premiership preview
Midweek,Mamelodi Sundowns was crowned as the DStv Premiership Champions for the seven times in a row after humiliating Kaizer Chiefs 1-5 at FNB Stadium.
Downs has won the league title with seven matches in hands,and right now it is sitting comfortable on top of the table with 59 points.
Stellenbosch is trailing behind the champions with 49 points in 26 matches and followed by Orlando Pirates in third place with 46 points in 26 matches.
