The Soweto giant Orlando Pirates are ready to die on the field to defend their Nedbank Cup title when meets their main rival Mamelodi Sundowns this afternoon at Mbombela Stadium.
The Buccaneers are heading to that final match of Nedbank Cup knowing very well that playing against Sundowns would be not a walk in the park and must sweat blood to retain that title.
The Bucs will defend the title which they won last season after defeating Sekhukhune United 2-1 on finals and that match was played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium,Pretoria.
Orlando Pirates had a long and difficult journey to reach Nedbank Cup final this season because they had to battle with teams such as Crystal Lake which they crushed 0-6 at Mbombela Stadium,in the second match met with Hungry Lions which they defeated 4-0 at Orlando Stadium,in the third match battled with AmaZulu FC which was beaten 2-4 at Moses Mabhida Stadium, and in the fourth match locked horns with Chippa United and they suffocated the Chilli Boys 1-3 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to proceed to the final.
Mamelodi Sundowns faced NB LA Masia which they humiliated 1-6 at Dobsonville Stadium in their fist match,in the second match Ka Bo Yellow cruised 2-0 against Maritzburg United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium,in the third match Sundowns fought with University of Pretoria and that match ended on penalties whereby Downs won 3-4,and in the fourth match Sundowns defeated Stellenbosch FC 1-2 to head to the final.
Both teams are going to the Nedbank Cup final in a high spirits after completing the DStv Premiership season in a good form.
Mamelodi Sundowns won the league for the seventh times in a row this season and that alone is the motivating factor for Rulani Mokwena's players, and this season also won Africa Football League(AFL) title on its inauguration season.
Meanwhile,Orlando Pirates has finished the season sitting in position two and qualified to play in a continental competition CAF Champions League next season.
