Police arrested the ruthless killer of seven family members of Bityi

The South Africa Police Service(SAPS) has arrested the ruthless most wanted killer who executed seven family members in a village of Qunu which happened more than a month ago in Eastern Cape.

The killer has been on the run since February 1,2023 after him and his accomplices shot and killed Bityi seven family members who were sitting in a mud flat at night.

Out of seven people got killed in that particular night,there were four males and three females and the motive for the killing is still not known.

Members of the police management in the province visited the crime scene led by Provincial Commissioner,Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene whereby the commissioner ordered the multi-disciplinary team of investigators to track down the killers wherever they might have escaped and hidden.

Almost forty days later,the police has managed to apprehend one of the suspects where he was hiding in Soweto,Gauteng Province and the search for others is continuing.

According to SAPS,during the investigation process and on 10 March 2023,the team of investigators received information which led them to the Gauteng Province and in particular,Orlando East in Soweto.This is where the suspect was believed to be hiding.Subsequently,the integrated team which included Gauteng Serious and Violent Crimes,arrested the 34-year-old suspect Sanele Tshisilanga who is popularly known as Litye,hiding in a girlfriend's flat in Soweto.The firearm which is believed to have been used in the commission of the murders,was also recovered during the investigation.

Both the Provincial Commissioner and SAPS management seems to be excited by the swift response from the team of investigators to track down the killers and also warn the killers that there is no place to hide for the law.

"The criminals involved in these killings should by now learn their strong lessons that with our police officers,there is no running away and there is no permanent hiding place.Even those who are under the false impression that when they cross the borders,they will not be found,they must think again.I want to say it again that the Eastern Cape has no place for murders.We shall continue to them alive,to answer for their deadly actions,"said Lieutenant General Mene.

The police said that the arrested suspect is expected to appear in Mthatha Magistrate Court on Tuesday,14 March 2023,once he has been charged on seven murder cases.
